Weighbridges are designed to weigh heavy vehicles with an excellent accuracy. They are usually made up of several modules and adapted to the environment where they are going to be assembled. These truck scales can be made of metal, concrete or mixed.
The maximum capacity is usually 80 tons, so all the structure and load cells, must be highly resistant and guarantee an accurate weighing over a long period of time.
However, the durability of the weighbridges also depends on a proper use and care.
1 . Avoid keeping vehicles on top of the platform for a long time
Vehicles must remain on the platform only during its weighing in order to avoid the overload of the structure or electronic material. Prevent the trucks from remaining on the scale after or before weighing.
2 . Do not make sudden maneuvers to access or leave the weighbridge
Forced, sudden and violent maneuvers can damage the scale structure, in addition to putting workers' safety at risk.
3. Check if the weight indicator is at zero
Before starting weighing, check if the weight indicator is at zero and stable so that the indicated weight is accurate.
4. Do not exceed the maximum capacity of the scale
Although BARBAL® scales are built with high quality materials, they are prepared for optimal use as long as their maximum capacity is respected. Exceeding this capacity can damage the scale and change the weighing results.
5. Remove waste and water from the truck scale
Sand, dirt, water and other accumulated residues can compromise the correct functioning of the weighing platform and hamper the access of vehicles. For this reason, you should clean the weighbridge in a regular basis.
With these tips you can prolong the durability of the truck scale and avoid unnecessary expenses on repairs and replacements. Whenever in doubt, please contact your supplier.
